LOUISA – Lawrence County quarterback Noah West ran out of his shoes, but his hands sealed the Bulldogs’ 78-74 win over Western Hills in the opening round of the Class 3A playoffs at the Dawg House this past Friday night.
West’s 50-yard touchdown run, his seventh of the game, put Lawrence County (7-4) ahead with 5 minutes, 46 seconds remaining.
His interception with 39 seconds left sealed the wild back-and-forth affair with the Wolverines, who finished 7-4.
West carried 45 times for 393 as the Bulldogs finished with 581 yards, all on the ground. He also had nine, two-point conversions to total 60 of his team’s 78 points.
Western Hills and Kentucky commit Wandale Robinson had 133 yards rushing on 15 carries and hauled in nine passes for 227 more yards and four scores. He rushed and caught two each.
LC running back Ashton Blankenship added 113 yards and a touchdown on 19 rushes.
The Bulldogs now journey to Boyle County (11-0) to face the defending champions Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
