Betsy Layne saw a 2-1 lead slip away as Sheldon Clark rallied in the final two sets to escape with a 3-2 victory Wednesday night.
Madison Hamilton had nine kills and 10 digs and Samantha Hollifield totaled 10 digs and 10 assists in the 25-21, 19-25, 25-21, 13-25 and 25-12 loss.
Erin Akers had five serving aces and 19 assists while Alyndra Meade chipped in seven kills
On Tuesday night, Megan Taylor had 29 kills, eight blocks and two aces in Paintsville’s 3-0 win over Pike County Central at home. Anna James finished with 32 digs in the 25-21, 25-18 and 25-16 win. Lindsey Nelson added 27 assists.
Taylor surpassed 2,500 kills for her career with the Lady Tigers.
Floyd Central cruised to a 3-0 win over Prestonsburg in a match played at Prestonsburg Fieldhouse.
Hailey Little had 10 kills and Allison Turner added nine in the 25-16, 25-14 and 25-4 match win. Aly Stumbo totaled seven kills.
Caley Howard had eight serving aces, Kiara Warrens collected 13 digs and Amelia Wallace finished with 16 assists.
