UPIKE VOLLEYBALL: Bears rally past Asbury in five sets

The University of Pikeville snatched victory squarely from the jaws of defeat Tuesday night as the Bears overcame a two-set deficit to beat the Tigers, 3-2, in a match played at the UPIKE Gymnasium.

Noelani Simpson finished with 18 kills  in the 14-25-, 17-25, 25-14, 25-19 and 15-12 match win. Trinity Warfield followed with 11, Yeryvel Catala added 10 and Megan Frazier totaled seven.

Leigh Johnson had 44 assists, marking the fourth time she’s had 40 or more in a match this season.

The Bears will continue the homestand on Friday, hosting Shawnee State University in a Mid-South Conference matchup at 7 p.m.
