The University of Pikeville women’s golf team set a new two-round team total 615 to win the UPIKE Fall Invitational played this past weekend.
The previous mark was 631, set one year ago.
Ellen Kehoe and Boo Newsome both claimed individual marks. Kehoe set the single-round record Saturday with a five-under par 67. Newsome set the previous weekend total with a 148, one shot better than the previous mark.
UPIKE will be back in action at Richmond on Oct. 7-8, competing in the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament.
MEN’S GOLF
UPIKE’s men claimed its second straight win over the weekend, winning the UPIKE Fall Invitational.
The Bears were five strokes ahead of runner-up Shawnee State University.
Blake Moody finished second with a three-over par. Trey Isenberg was tied for third with a seven over while Blake Maupin was tied for fifth with an eight over.
UPIKE shot 302 on Saturday and finished with a 303 round on Sunday.
UPIKE will be back in action at Richmond on Oct. 7-8, competing in the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament.
VOLLEYBALL
The UPIKE volley Bears lost a pair of weekend matches at home this past weekend.
UPIKE dropped a 3-0 set to Cumberlands on Saturday, falling 25-20, 25-19 and 25-12.
Noelani Simpson had six kills while Megan Frazier followed with five.
On Friday, the Bears dropped a 3-0 decision to Life University by sets of 25-13, 25-17 and 25-22.
Simpson had four kills while Brittany Reels led with 11 digs and Leigh Johnson finished with 16 assists.
