The University of Pikeville football Bears journey to the central time zone this Saturday for a match-up with Cumberland (Tenn.) University at Woody Hunt Stadium in Lebanon.
UPIKE enters the game 3-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play following a homecoming loss last Saturday to Lindsey Wilson College.
The Phoenix bring a 4-3 record and 2-2 in league play as well following last week’s 21-10 homecoming win over Bethel University, erasing a first-half deficit.
The Bears took it on the chin in the previous meeting on the road, 21-0, in 2016. UPIKE has lost the last five games in the series.
UPIKE was held without a offensive touchdown in the loss to the eighth-ranked Blue Raiders. Quarterback Bowen Smith passed for 104 yards and Xavier Malone added 131 yards through the air. The duo was picked off four times.
Running back Derius Gibson ran for 102 yards on 18 carries. Receiver Alexander Shelton had 97 yards on six catches and Arties Clark finished with 55 on three grabs.
Josh Green returned a block punt two yards for a score and William Chandler booted a 32-yard field goal.
Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m., EST.
