SWEET 16: Scott County, Trinity in 102nd title game

LEXINGTON – Scotty County and Louisville Trinity will clash at Rupp Arena in the boys’ Sweet 16 championship game set for 2 p.m. Sunday.

The Cardinals raced past Warren Central, 70-52, while Trinity survived a last second shot to edge Campbell County, 42-40.

Michael Moreno poured in a game-high 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double for Scott County while Glen Covington fired in 16 and Diablo Stewart finished with 15.

Dra Boyd led the Dragons (22-12) with 13 points while Kobe Brents and Antonio Barbee finished with nine apiece.

Trinity is making only its second-ever appearance in the title game, having beaten Scott County, 71-53, back in 2012. The Cardinals have won two previous championships.

David Johnson paced the Shamrocks, now 29-8, with 13 points while Ethan Hodge came off the bench to add 11.

Reid Jolly led all scorers for the Camels, whose season ended at 31-5, with 17 points. Drew Wilson tossed in 10.
