LEXINGTON – The Johnson Central Golden Eagles fell behind early in the opening period to Louisville Trinity and was bounced from the boys’ Sweet 16 tournament, 70-28, Wednesday afternoon at Rupp Arena.
Johnson Central saw its season end at 27-8. The Golden Eagles were playing in their fifth state tournament in the past eight years.
The Shamrocks moved to 27-8 and advance on to the semifinals Friday.
Cory VanHoose led the Golden Eagles with 14 points. The sophomore went over 1,000 points for his career on a three-point basket late in the final quarter. Jacob Rice, playing in his last game, chipped in seven points.
