The long days and weekends of practice and meets were rewarded for members of the Pikeville High School boys’ cross country team at Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington on Saturday.
The Panthers ran their way to a state runner-up in Class 1A for the first time in school history, finishing with an overall total time of 1:28:36.01. Pikeville trailed only state champion Holy Cross of Louisville which finished at 1:25:09:21.
Harrison Booher finished 11th in the boys’ 5K run with a time of 17:14.81. Teammate Drew Hurley came home in 14th place with a showing of 17:21:28. Rylan Keathley was third for PHS in 18th place with a run of 17:35:20.
Adam Swofford was 32nd with a time of 17:57:63 while Jason Lin was 57th with a run of 18:27.14.
Eric Green ran a time of 19:05.75 and Wade Copley finished at 21:36.15.
