COALTON – Johnson Central sophomore pitcher Chloe Vanhoose did everything she could to give her team a chance to win.
Vanhoose, despite tossing a no-hitter, allowed a single run in the second inning to Ashland Blazer and the Kittens made it stand up to eliminate the Lady Eagles, 1-0, in the Semi-State 8 championship matchup played at Kentucky Christian University Saturday.
Her mound opponent Mykayla Akers scattered three hits as Ashland advanced to face Warren East this Friday in Lexington.
Both Vanhoose and Akers struck out nine batters each.
The loss snapped a 10-game winning streak for the Lady Eagles, who saw their season end at 24-16.
Central’s Jaden Bowling had two of her team’s three hits, including a single to lead off the seventh inning but was left stranded. Alyssa Hedrick had a two-out double in the sixth inning.
