PAINTSVILLE – Belfry’s Christian Long scored a goal in the 80th minute on a penalty kick to help the Pirates earn a 2-2 tie with Paintsville in a match played Monday night.
Ben McNamee added an unassisted goal in the 64th minute to make it 2-1 after the Tigers, now 4-7-1, had taken a 2-0 first-half lead.
Seth Trador had an unassisted goal in the first minute of play and Ethan Mills added a goal off an assist by Michael Lowe in the 57th minute.
Belfry, now 6-5-2, had 12 shots on goal and Paintsville took 10. Pirate goalkeeper Caleb Slone finished with five saves and Tiger goalie Sam Smith totaled six.
In other boys’ matches:
Johnson Central’s Jake Headley knocked home three goals to lead the Golden Eagles to a 7-1 win over Shelby Valley.
Dalton Lawson, Ethan Pack, Nathaniel Kumar and Ethan Blanton scored one apiece as Johnson Central improved to 7-7-1.
Goalkeeper Travis Caudill finished with 10 saves.
The Wildcats dropped to 0-9-1.
Prestonsburg managed one goal each from Isaiah Collins, Grant Justice and Matt Burchett in a 3-0 shutout win over Sheldon Clark at StoneCrest Soccer Complex.
Jacob Martin was between the pipes to record the shutout win.
The Cardinals are now 3-11-0.
In girls’ matches:
Prestonsburg’s Elizabeth Burchett scored five goals to lead the Lady Blackcats to a 8-0 shutout win over Sheldon Clark at StoneCrest Soccer Complex.
Makayla Ousley scored one goal and assisted on another while Makayla Slone and Chloe Collins added one goal each.
Chelsea Samons recorded the shutout as Prestonsburg upped its record to 11-6-1. The Lady Cardinals are now 5-9-0.
Belfry built a 2-0 halftime lead at Paintsville and went on to score a 4-0 win.
Robbi-Ann Brewer scored four unassisted goals as the Lady Pirates improved to 11-6-1. The 11 wins ties the school record set by the 2006 team.
Paintsville goalkeeper Hope Auxier had 15 saves as Belfry took 22 shots on goal.
The Lady Tigers fell to 2-9-1.
Johnson Central cruised to a 10-0 win over Shelby Valley in a match played at Eagle Field.
Lauren Johnson scored five goals in the win while Kelci Blair added two. Cleo Wells, Haley Lykins and Madison Hicks added one apiece.
The Lady Eagles improved to 15-1-1 behind goalkeeper Alyssa Pack’s shutout.
Letcher Central edged Pikeville by a 2-1 margin in a match played at Cougar Field.
Annie Salyer scored the Lady Panthers only goal. Pikeville finished the regular season 3-12-0.
