SOCCER: Prestonsburg teams sweep All ‘A’ championships

ROBINSON CREEK – Prestonsburg’s Cody Mosley scored off an assist from teammate Isaiah Collins to lift the Blackcats to a thrilling 1-0 win over Paintsville in the 15th Region All “A” Classic championship played at Teco Field Saturday night.

Goalkeeper Jacob Martin was outstanding as Prestonsburg moved to 7-0-2. It was his third shutout this season.

Meanwhile, the Lady Blackcats’ Elizabeth Burchett knocked home four goals to power her team to a 6-0 win over Sheldon Clark in the girls’ title match earlier Saturday.

Jillian Kidd added one goal and assisted on two others while Makayla Ousley had one goal and one assist.

It was the third straight shutout by goalkeeper Chelsea Samons as Prestonsburg improved to 6-3-0.

In other matches Saturday, Will Ratliff and Owen St. John scored one goal apiece as Bath County’s boys blanked Lawrence County, 2-0.

Belfry’s Lady Pirates blanked Hazard on the road, 4-0.

Kylie Gollihue had three goals and Mylah Caudill added one as the Lady Pirates improved to 6-3-0.

Belfry took 16 shots on goal while the Lady Bulldogs managed just two.
