Six area student-athletes receive All A scholarships

Six area high school student-athletes are among the 70 selected statewide to receive $1,000 Touchstone Energy All “A” Classic scholarships.

Local winners included Shelby Valley students Kyleigh Tackett, Blake Burke, Samantha Cool and Hannah Dotson, as well as Prestonsburg’s Katlyn Hicks and Allison Lemaster.

Students from the state’s 125 smallest schools qualify for various Touchstone Energy All “A” Classic programs in academics and sports, including competitions for the scholarships in basketball, art, cheerleading, baseball, softball, volleyball and golf.

Class “A” schools are those with an enrollment of 425 or less, in grades 10-12.

The non-renewable scholarships/grants-in-aid are awarded annually to deserving seniors from small schools who will be continuing their education at a post-secondary school in the state.
