ROUNDUP: Johnson Central steamrolls past BC

PAINTSVILLE – Johnson Central quarterback Ryley Preece passed for 219 yards and three touchdowns and running back Devin Johnson carried just seven times for 156 yards and three scores to lead the Golden Eagles to a 55-7 win over Bourbon County in the opening round of the Class 4A playoffs at Eagle Field this past Friday night.

Preece also rushed for a score as Johnson Central improved to 10-1.

Running back Joe Jackson added 10 rushes for 179 yards and one score as the Golden Eagles amassed 376 yards on the ground and 595 total yards for the games. Jackson also hauled in three passes for 136 yards and one score.

Evan Adkins and Dillon Preston added TD receptions.

The Golden Eagles will host Scott (7-4) Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Prestonsburg………..….14

LEXINGTON – Prestonsburg was held to less than 100 yards total by Lexington Christian and the Eagles eliminated the Blackcats, 46-14, in the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs this past Friday night.

Ezekiel Briggs ran for a touchdown and Samuel Kelly hauled in a touchdown pass as the Blackcats finished 2-9.

Xavier Brown ran for a pair of touchdowns and Jayden Barnhardt threw for a score and ran for another as the host Eagles advanced.

Letcher Central…….7

ERMINE – Lincoln County running back Darius Napier ran 16 times for 158 yards and scored all three touchdowns to power the Patriots to a 22-7 win over Letcher County Central in the opening round of the Class 5A playoffs at Cougar Field this past Friday night.

Hunter Campbell rushed 14 times for 58 yards and one touchdown for the Cougars. Jonathan Sergent finished with 97 yards on the ground. Quarterback Nick Sergent passed for 89 yards. Kalin Branham had four catches for 68 yards.

Letcher Central finished its season at 5-6.

PAINTSVILLE – Paintsville quarterback Jake Hyden had a big game, throwing three, first-half touchdown passes to Joshua McClurg to lead the Tigers to a 39-6 win over Bracken County in the opening round of the Class 1A playoffs at Memorial Field this past Friday night.

The Tigers, now 9-2, will host Nicholas County (8-3) Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

CORBIN – Lynn Camp running back Dalton Cook rushed 15 times for 200 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to a 43-20 win over Phelps in the opening round of the Class 1A playoffs played this past Friday night.

Quarterback Eric Mitchell passed for a pair of touchdowns and running back Chase Brown carried for 92 yards and one score.

The Hornets finished up the year at 5-5.

SOMERSET – Somerset running back Alex Miller rushed for a pair of touchdowns to lead the Briarjumpers to a 51-8 win over East Ridge in the opening round of the Class 2A playoff this past Friday night.

Running backs Mikey Garland, Cam Austin and Peyton Hatcher added rushing scores while quarterback Alex Ham passed for one touchdown.

The Warriors finished 2-9.
