ROUNDUP: Hager leads Jags past pesky Cards

LANGLEY – Floyd Central quarterback Caleb Hager rushed 10 times for 127 yards and one touchdown and passed for 64 yards and another as the Jaguars held off Sheldon Clark, 16-12, this past Friday night.

Ethan Smith-Mills hauled in a 20-yard touchdown pass while running backs Josh Whitaker and Brae Coleman added two-point conversions each. Whitaker rushed for 55 yards.

Brenden Little totaled 12 tackles, including seven solo.

The Jaguars, now 5-3, are idle this week before hosting Lawrence County on Oct. 19. The Cardinals (2-6) play at Pike Central (2-5) Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

LEXINGTON – Jenkins’ Jordan Bates and Hayden Fleming each scored a touchdown, but the Cavaliers came up on the short end of a 46-14 decision to Sayre in a game played this past Friday night.

The Cavaliers, now 0-7, will journey to Clinchport, Va., Friday night to face Rye Cove (1-5). Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
