GOODY – With several former Belfry football players looking on from past teams, the Pirates took control in the second half and went on to beat Cabell Midland, 36-28, at CAM Stadium Friday night.
Quarterback Avery Browning ran for one touchdown and passed for another as the Pirates moved to 6-1, winning for the sixth straight game since losing the opener to Huntington High.
Ben Bentley rushed for the game’s first touchdown and hauled in a TD pass.
Brett Coleman, who rushed for 98 yards, added a short touchdown run and Isaac Dixon scored on an 18-yard run. He finished with 86 yards on 13 carries.
The Pirates will travel to Louisa Friday night to face Lawrence County (5-3) in a district matchup. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
