PLAYOFFS: Paintsville advances; LC eliminated

PAINTSVILLE – Paintsville took control early on against Nicholas County and the Tigers cruised to a 48-18 win in the second round of the Class 1A playoffs at Memorial Field this past Friday night.

Jake Hyden tossed three touchdown passes, including a pair to Josh McClurg, as Paintsville moved to 9-2 overall. McClurg had two catches for 66 yards. Chris Allen also had a touchdown reception.

Running back Seth Williams carried 17 times for 145 yards and one score. Christian Keeton added a touchdown run.

Paintsville will now host Raceland (10-2) in the regional championship at Memorial Field Friday night. The Tigers edged the Rams, 6-0, in the regular season matchup played on the road.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

DANVILLE – Boyle County quarterback Reed Lanter passed for 278 yards and four touchdowns to lead the defending and unbeaten Class 3A champions to a 42-8 victory over Lawrence County this past Friday night.

The Bulldogs season ended at 7-5.

Receiver Reese Smith hauled in six passes for 205 yards and four touchdowns. Running back Tanner Crawford rushed for 123 yards and one score.

The Rebels will face Belfry (10-2) in the regional finals at CAM Stadium Friday night.
