After dropping two matches Friday to Owensboro Catholic and Presentation, the Lady Panthers won eight straight sets on Saturday to capture the consolation bracket championship with a 2-0 win over Christian Fellowship. The close match ended 27-25 and 30-28.
Pikeville had earlier beaten Christian Fellowship, 2-0, winning 25-19 and 25-21.
The Lady Panthers eliminated Wolfe County, 2-0 (25-16 and 25-17) as well as Lexington Christian, 2-0 (25-18 and 25-13).
Pikeville was playing in the state tournament for the first time in school history.
