Pikeville High School senior quarterback Connor Roberts has been named one of six finalists for the new Kentucky Football Coaches Association Mr. Football award.
Roberts, who guided the Panthers to an 11-3 record and berth in the Class 1A state championship game, was among those on the field today in Lexington during the Class 5A championship game.
He tossed three touchdown passes in the Panthers’ 21-20 loss to the Tigers, passing for 243 yards. Roberts finished his senior season with 2,150 yards and 27 passing touchdowns. He rushed for nearly 1,300 yards and 18 scores.
Roberts was joined by Franklin Douglass’ Damarco Fishback (Class 6A); Covington Catholic’s Casey McGinnis (Class 5A); Franklin-Simpson’s Tre Bass (Class 4A); Western Hills’ Wandale Robinson (Class 3A); and Christian Academy of Louisville’s Milton Wright (Class 2A).
Robinson, who committed to Kentucky, won the honor.
