PIKEVILLE – Pikeville used a seven-run, fifth inning to put away Shelby Valley, 10-0, and capture the 59th District baseball tournament played at Davis Park on Wednesday night.
Winning pitcher Christian Tackett allowed just two hits as the Panthers improved to 18-14 while the Wildcats dropped to 14-14. Both will play in next week’s 15th Region tournament at Johnson Central.
Kevin Justice had a pair of hits, including a double, scored twice and drove in two runs while Nate Brown collected two singles, scored three runs and knocked home a pair. Jackson Hensley had two hits, scored and added an RBI. Grayson Harris doubled and drove in two runs.
Austin Rhodes and Sam Brown had Valley’s only hits, both singles. Logan Billiter suffered the loss.
