PAINTSVILLE – Pikeville’s Drake Potter blasted a so
lo home run and starting pitcher Grayson Harris allowed one hit over four innings as the Panthers cruised to a 10-0 win over Betsy Layne in the opening round of the 15th Region tournament played at Johnson Central on Memorial Day.
Jackson Hensley doubled and drove home a pair of runs as the Panthers improved to 19-11. Kevin Justice had two hits, including a double and scored a pair of runs while Christian Tackett tripled, singled, scored twice and knocked in a pair of runs. Tanner Hamilton had two hits, scored and collected an RBI.
Tyler Sanders had the only hit, a double, for the Bobcats, who finished 7-22. Betsy Layne starter Byron Tackett suffered the loss.
