Pikeville defeated host Paintsville, 2-1, in the championship volleyball match of the Pops Chevy Slam on Saturday.
The Lady Panthers moved to 12-1 on the season following the 25-21, 10-25 and 26-24 win over the Lady Tigers.
Pikeville defeated Russell, 2-1 (24-26, 25-19 and 25-20); Shelby Valley, 2-1 (21-25, 25-6 and 25-18); East Ridge, 2-0 (25-22 and 25-20); East Carter, 2-0 (25-22 and 25-20, as well as 25-15 and 25-17.
Paintsville reached the finals by beating Bourbon County, 2-0 (25-21 and 25-18); East Ridge, 2-1 (25-23, 20-25 and 25-15); Pike County Central, 2-0 (26-24 and 25-17); and Russell, 2-0 (25-16 and 25-8).
East Ridge won three matches during the tournament. The Lady Warriors defeated Shelby Valley, 2-1 (25-12, 22-25 and 25-22); Pike County Central, 2-1 (21-25, 25-23 and 28-26); and Bourbon County, 2-0 (26-24 and 25-15).
Pike Central defeated Shelby Valley, 2-0 (25-12 and 25-17) and East Carter, 2-0 (25-18 and 25-17).
Valley also lost to Russell, 2-1 (25-11, 23-25 and 25-17).
In the Swift Silver Mine DIG for the Gold tournament played at Wolfe County, Johnson Central fell to Knott County Central, 2-1 (25-22, 17-25 and 25-27); and Wolfe County, 2-0 (18-25 and 19-25).
