Floyd Central head football coach Shawn Hager says his team must improve defensively to have success this upcoming season.
“I don’t think there’s any question we must improve on defense and limit our opponents on offense,” he said as the Jaguars prepare to kickoff the season in Manchester against Clay County on Aug. 23.
Floyd Central finished 5-6 in 2018, falling to Class 3A power Boyle County in the opening round of the playoffs.
The Jaguars return starting quarterback Caleb Hager, wide receiver Brendan Evans and running back Dalton Boyd.
Following the opener against the Tigers, Floyd Central will play at North Laurel (Aug. 30), Magoffin County (Oct. 11), Lawrence County (Oct. 25) and Letcher Central (Nov. 1).
Home games include Knott Central (Sept. 6), Hazard (Sept. 13), Prestonsburg (Sept. 20), Pike Central (Sept. 27) and Belfry (Oct. 4).
