Second year Prestonsburg head football coach Brandon Brewer says the off-season workouts for his team has been “very productive.”
“Our goals are to just get better and better each and every day,” he said. “We’ve got some young guys that just need to go out and play to improve their game.”
Prestonsburg is coming off a 2-9 season one year ago, losing in the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs to Lexington Christian.
Two of the key returning players are defensive standouts John Rose and Samuel Kelly, both finished with more than 50 tackles each one year ago.
The Blackcats will kick off the season at Pike County Central on August 23. Other road games include Floyd Central (Sept. 20), Shelby Valley (Oct. 4), Bath County (Oct. 18) and Martin County (Oct. 25).
Prestonsburg will play its first home game against Lawrence County on Aug. 30. The Blackcats will also host Hazard (Sept. 6), Powell County (Sept. 13), East Ridge (Sept. 27) and West Carter (Oct. 11).
