P’burg, Russell battle to tie; JC, Lawrence girls stay unbeaten

Prestonsburg’s Matt Burchett and Grant Justice scored one goal apiece to help the Blackcats earn a 2-2 tie with Russell in a boys’ soccer match played at StoneCrest Complex Monday night.

Goalkeeper Jacob Martin made enough stops between the pipes as the Blackcats are now 2-0-1. Justice assisted on Burchett’s goal.

Nolan Sabotchick scored both goals for the Red Devils, now 3-0-1.

Paintsville at Johnson Central, 8 p.m.

Morgan County at Prestonsburg, 6 p.m.

Belfry at Shelby Valley, 6 p.m.

Johnson Central’s Lady Eagles moved to 3-0-0 with a 4-0 win over Boyd County in a match played at Eagle Field Monday.

Goalkeeper Alyssa Pack recorded her third straight shutout.

Lauren Johnson scored a pair of goals while Kelci Blair and Cleo Wells added one apiece. Haley Lykins assisted on two goals.

Lawrence County is now 3-0-0 after the Lady Dawgs defeated Rowan County, 7-0, in a match played at the Dawg House.

Allyson Moore now has three consecutive shutouts in goal.

Zayla Granillo scored four goals while Kylie Maynard, Ellie Webb and Lydia Workman added one apiece.

In other action on Monday, Mingo Central defeated Shelby Valley, 4-1.
