P’burg blanks Hazard boys; Valley girls tie LCC

Prestonsburg goalkeeper Jacob Martin was solid in goal in leading the Blackcats to a 2-0 win over Hazard Monday night at StoneCrest Soccer Complex.

Matt Burchett and Jared Conley added one goal each as P’burg moved to 3-0-2 on the season.

In other boys’ matches, Letcher Central doubled up Shelby Valley, 6-3, while Ashland Blazer down Paintsville, 3-1.

In girls’ play, Lawrence County’s Zayla Granillo scored three goals and assisted on three others as the Lady Bulldogs cruised to a 10-0 win over Pikeville at the Dawg House. Kylie Maynard added three goals and assisted on five others while Ellie Webb knocked home a pair of goals.

It was goalie Allyson Moore’s sixth shutout in six matches.

Prestonsburg’s Elizabeth Burchett had four goals and assisted on two others to lead the Lady Blackcats to a 9-0 win over Hazard at StoneCrest. Jillian Kidd scored two goals and had two assists while Makayla Ousley added one goal and aided on two others.

Makayla Slone and Chloe Collins added one goal each while goalkeeper Chelsea Samons rebounds the shutout win.

Shelby Valley goalkeeper Angel Newsome made enough saves to help the Lady Cats earn a 2-2 tie with Letcher Central in a match played at Cougar Field.

Hannah Adams had both Valley goals.
