NAUGATUCK – Tug Valley running back Parker Brewer capped a game-winning drive for the Panthers as he scored on a four-yard run with just over one-minute remaining to highlight a 30-24 victory over Phelps in a game played at Bob Brewer Stadium this past Friday night.
The Hornets, now 3-1, had taken a slim 24-22 lead on Zack Ramsey 11-yard run with just over seven minutes to play.
Running back Dustin Balentine led the Panthers ground attack with 64 yards and one touchdown on 12 rushes. Brewer added 46 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Dominick Francis finished with 82 yards rushing 14 carries. Quarterback Garrett Clevenger passed for 100 yards.
Tug Valley welcomes Tolsia (2-2) Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. The Hornets are idle this week before hosting Fairview (0-3) on Sept. 28.
