PIKEVILLE – Pikeville took control early on against Pineville and the Panthers rolled to a 49-16 win at Hillard Howard Field in the opening round of the Class 1A playoff this past Friday night.
Quarterback Connor Roberts passed for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Pikeville moved to 8-2 on the season. Christian Billiter hauled in a 74-yard scoring pass and Jackson Hensley added a 29-yard catch for a touchdown.
Roberts added 74 yards rushing and one touchdown on five carries. Jesse Sparks had 61 yards and a touchdown on eight carries.
Brody Birchfield and Seth Pugh each picked off a pass and returned them for touchdowns.
Pikeville will host Lynn Camp, now 10-1, Friday night. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
