Shelby Valley upcoming senior Dalton Meade is the latest of several outstanding running backs for the Wildcats to move squarely into the spotlight of football in the mountains.
His off-season workout isn’t going unnoticed. Meade has earned Mountain Top Sports’ Athlete of the Week.
He finished with 812 yards rushing as a junior, scoring 13 touchdowns while hauling in 11 passes for 239 yards and four scores. Meade scored 108 points, second only to former teammate Seth Johnson.
The bull’s eye is on his shoulders when Valley opens its season on August 23 at Teco Field against Letcher County Central.
The multi-talented Wildcat was a force as well defensively, finishing with 129 tackles, including 75 solo and seven for a loss.
Area coaches are reminded if you have an athlete that is working hard to prepare for the upcoming season let Mountain Top Sports know about it. Send your nomination to: teddy@mountain-topsports.com.
