Pikeville has taken the top spot away from Floyd Central for the first time this volleyball season in the latest Mountain Top Sports Super 7 volleyball poll released Tuesday.
The Lady Panthers, now 18-5, and Floyd Central (17-5) are neck-in-neck heading into the final weeks of the regular season. Pikeville is 15-0 in regional play and the Lady Jaguars are 11-0.
The top two teams don’t meet up during the regular season, meaning they can only face off in the regional tournament.
Defending champion Paintsville, now 12-7, has moved into the No. 3 ranking, just ahead of Pike County Central. The Lady Hawks are 15-5.
East Ridge, with a record of 11-4 claims the No. 5 position, followed by Martin County’s Lady Cardinals, now 11-6.
Rounding out the poll is Letcher Central (7-8) at No. 7. Johnson Central (7-8) received votes.
