CAMPBELLSVILLE – The best season in UPIKE soccer history came to a crashing end on Friday when the Bears lost to No. 7 Lindsey Wilson 9-0 in the Mid-South Conference Tournament quarterfinals.
Mid-South Men’s Soccer Player of the Year Andrew Revanales played as such in the match, scoring four goals on four shots, all of which came in the first 20 minutes.
Rainer De Jesus later scored two goals shortly before the halftime siren. The Blue Raiders outshot Pikeville 30-0 in the match.
Nicholas Marcano, Karim Jouini, and Jan Engels all scored in the second half to round out the goals.
UPIKE finishes 8-11 on the season, most wins in UPIKE history, and 1-6 in conference play.
Meanwhile UPIKE women’s season came to a tough end on Thursday with an 11-0 loss to No. 10 Lindsey Wilson in the Mid-South Conference tournament quarterfinals.
The Blue Raiders dominated possession and it showed with the 36-0 shot differential between Lindsey Wilson and UPIKE. Six different Lindsey Wilson players scored and two – Thea Birgerud and Emelie Liljered – scored hat tricks for the Blue Raiders.
Lindsey Wilson scored in the fourth and fifth minute to build an early lead and scored four more times before the halftime whistle. They then scored five times in the second half.
UPIKE finishes the season at 2-15 overall and 0-7 in conference play.
