Men’s bowling finishes 14th in Orange and Black Classic

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio –  In a tournament surrounded by brutal competition, UPIKE men’s bowling couldn’t find enough magic to advance to the Sunday match play, finishing 14th in the qualifying round.

Alex Hoffman was the top varsity player for UPIKE, finishing 35th in the 412-competitor field with 966 total pins. Jonathan Lovett was not far behind with 936 total pins, which was good for 48th.

As a team, UPIKE’s 14th place finish was the best among Mid-South Conference schools and helped build up the Bears’ lead in the early conference standings. Pikeville currently holds a two-game lead over Martin Methodist.

In the JV division, UPIKE’s JV2 team qualified second behind Lindenwood’s JV1 team. But, the Bears’ JV2 team matched up with its JV1 teammates in match play and the JV1 men won the battle. UPIKE’s JV1 team later fell in the finals to Lindenwood 3.5-2.5.
