Meet Phelps head coach David Jones

He helped lead Belfry to back-to-back state football championships in 2003-04.

Spent four years at the University of Kentucky, rotating from wide receiver to cornerback.

Biggest college moment came in the 2008 Liberty Bowl game against East Carolina when he returned the second half kickoff back 100 yards for a touchdown.

Jones signed as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens.

Beginning his third season as head coach at Phelps.

What is your coach philosophy? “Is to coach a life and not a student athlete. Always make sure kids have an option after their playing days are over.  Not everyone can play college football.”

Favorite pastime? Watching Unsolved Mysteries.”

Favorite food? “BBQ ribs and bacon.”

Favorite music? “Anything Motown, old country or blues.”

Favorite musical group? “Maroon 5”

Hero? “My dad David Cook and high school football coach Philip Haywood. Words can’t describe how big of an influence they have been on my life.”
