Johnson, Goad share Player of the Week honors

Shelby Valley running back Seth Johnson and Mingo Central quarterback Daylin Goad had monster weeks as both the Wildcats and Miners posted wins on the gridiron this past Friday night.

Johnson carried 28 times for 258 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to a 49-38 district road win over Leslie County while Goad passed for 228 yards and seven touchdowns, including six in the opening half as the Miners rolled past Scott, 56-6.

Both have been chosen as EKB Sports’ Co-Players of  the Week following their performances. They combined for 486 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Here is this week’s honor roll:

Belfry running back Issac Dixon ran for 165 yards and four touchdowns in the Pirates’ 56-28 win over Lawrence County.

Mingo Central’s Drew Hatfield seven catches for 120 yards and three touchdowns.

Johnson Central running back Devin Johnson finished with 127 yards and two rushing touchdowns on 11 carries and one pass reception for another score in the Golden Eagles’ 57-7 win at Rowan County.

Pike County Central quarterback Tyler Hunt passed for two touchdowns and ran for two others in the Hawks’ 44-0 win over Sheldon Clark.

Pikeville running back Zack Roberts ran for 140 yards and two touchdowns in the Panthers’ 47-0 win over Phelps.

Belfry quarterback Avery Browning passed for 144 yards and three touchdowns in the Pirates win.
