HS VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Phelps, Floyd Central, Paintsville roll

Phelps put together a solid match against Prestonsburg as the Hornets scored a 3-0 win at the McCoy Athletic Center on Tuesday night.

LaRanda Francis had nine kills, two blocks, two digs  and four serving aces in the 25-15, 25-18 and 25-18 win. Shakara Lester finished with six kills, eight blocks and two digs while Kara Stevens totaled two kills, five digs, three aces and nine assists.

Floyd Central took control early on and the Lady Jaguars rolled to  a 3-0 victory over Letcher Central in a matched played at LCCHS Gymnasium on Tuesday night.

Jaden Hall had 16 kills and six digs in the 25-18, 25-15 and 25-12 win. Allyson Stumbo finished with seven kills, five blocks and one dig  while Caley Howard had eight kills, six blocks and eight digs.

Allison Turner totaled 11 kills, one block and four digs while Caroline Parsons finished with one kill, four blocks, three digs and 39 assists. Skylar Paige had 13 digs, Kiara Warrens totaled 11 and Alivia Stumbo finished with 10.

Hailey Little totaled 13 kills, four blocks and six digs to help lead the Lady Tigers to a 3-0 victory over Betsy Layne on Bill Runyon Court on Tuesday night.

Hadley Hardin had five kills, one block, 10 digs and three serving aces in the 25-12, 25-12 and 25-12 win. Kaitlyn Newsome finished with six kills, one block, six digs and three aces while Bella Blackburn had two kills, six digs and 21 assists.

Pikeville took a close second set with Pike Central and went on to post a 3-0 victory in a match played at the Hawks  Nest on Tuesday night.

Kaylee Wells finished with 14 kills and McKinlee Potter followed with 10 in the 25-14, 25-22 and 25-15 win. Hannah Akers added five kills while Chloe Wright totaled four kills and three blocks.

Riley Tavis collected 27 assists while Emily Gearheart finished with five aces  and Kara Lee finished with 12 digs.

East Ridge rolled to a 3-0 victory over Belfry in a road match played Tuesday night.

Hannah Thacker totaled 12 kills and Sarah Tackett followed with 10 kills and five digs in the 25-14, 25-20 and 25-22 win. Haley Parks added eight kills and 25 digs. Lexy Little finished 12 digs. Lakin Puckett added 25 assists and Emily Lester nine digs.

Paintsville dominated its match with Shelby Valley, winning 3-0, in a match played at the Shelby Valley Sports Center.

Hailey Little finished with 13 kills, four blocks and six digs in the 25-12, 25-12 and 25-12 win. Kaitlyn Newsome added six kills, six digs and three serving aces. Hadley Hardin totaled five kills, 10 digs and three aces while Bella Blackburn had two kills, six digs and 21 assists.

Martin County’s Madison Thompson had a big match, finishing with 14 kills, four blocks, nine digs, eight serving aces  and one assists as the Lady Cardinals defeated Tug Valley, 3-0.

Jenna Grayson added 22 digs and four assists in the 25-21, 25-22 and 25-12 win. Kristen Isaac  had three kills, one block, 12 digs, two aces and seven assists while Alyssa McCoy totaled one kill, 11 assists, five digs and one aces.

Betsy Layne dropped  a close fifth set to Prestonsburg as the Lady Bobcats fell 3-2 on the road.

Madison Hamilton finished with 15 kills, 10 blocks, 10 digs, one serving ace and three assists in the 14-25, 25-20, 15-25, 25-18 and 11-15 loss. Alyndra Meade added nine kills, 13 digs and three aces while Katie Kidd had five kills and eight blocks.

Lauren Watkins and Madi Meade had 17 digs apiece while Maddie Duff totaled 14 digs, two kills, two aces and 31 assists. Ashley Caudill had 11 digs and Inetta Hamilton finished with four kills, 10 digs and seven aces.
