HS VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Lady Jags top LCC; P’ville, P’burg win

Floyd Central won the final two sets against Letcher Central to post a 3-1 victory in the high school volleyball season opener played Tuesday night.

Freshman Jadyn Hall had nine kills, one block, 14 digs and four serving aces in the 25-11, 22-25, 25-20 and 25-10 match win. Sophomore Ally Stumbo finished with 12 kills, Kiara Warrens totaled 15 digs and Allison Turner had nine kills and two blocks.

The Lady Jaguars improved to 24-1 all-time in matches played at home.

Magoffin County…0

Defending 15th Region champion Paintsville opened its volleyball season with a 3-0 win over Magoffin County on the road.

Hailey Little had 10 kills, five aces and one block in the 25-7, 25-12 and 25-4 win.

Bella Blackburn totaled 22 assists while Shelby Hatfield finished with 14 aces and Hadley Hardin added five kills and six aces.

Prestonsburg……..3

June Buchanan…..0

Prestonsburg evened its record at 1-1 with a 3-0 win over June Buchanan in a match played at Prestonsburg Field House.

Mya Burgess finished with six kills, one block, three digs and two aces in the 25-16, 25-17 and 25-22 win. Allya Jarrell had nine serving aces, four digs and 18 assists. Molly Boyd totaled 12 kills, nine assists, six  digs and three aces.

Shelby Valley…..3

Phelps fell behind  early on to Shelby Valley and the Lady Hornets dropped a 3-0 decision at the McCoy Athletic Center.

Kara Stevens finished with six assists, four digs and three serving aces and Madison Prater added eight digs  and Alyssa Wolford totaled six.

Martin County…..3

Belfry……………….0

Martin County went on the road and blanked Belfry, 3-0, winning 25-18, 25-17 and 25-22.

Madison Thompson collected 11 kills, four digs and seven serving aces. Kristen Isaac had 10 assists, nine digs and three serving aces while Alyssa McCoy had nine digs and seven assists. Lakyn Porter finished with seven serving aces, three digs, five kills and one assist. Lauren Horn collected seven kills and four digs.

Pike Central scored its second straight shutout, knocking off Betsy Layne, 3-0. The Lady Hawks slipped past the Lady Bobcats,  25-22, 25-21 and 25-23
