HS SOFTBALL: Tug Valley wins in extra innings

HUNTINGTON – Tug Valley scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning to beat St. Joseph Central, 10-5, in a game played March 19.

The Lady Panthers, now 2-0, erased a 5-2 deficit by scoring single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh to pull even.

Emily Hatfield had five runs batted in while Kaitlyn Copley had two hits and knocked in a pair of runs. Abigail Spence collected three hits and Winning pitcher Autumn Hall added two.

At Huntington

PIKEVILLE – Pikeville scored five times in the third inning and went on to beat Shelby Valley, 7-3, in a game played at Myers Field March 19.

Kendall Hall had the only hit of the game for the Lady Panthers, now 2-0. She also drove in three runs, including two runs on her third-inning double. Bailey Stiltner added an RBI.

Maggie Hall had two hits and batted in a pair of runs for the Bat Kats, now 0-2. Taylor Newsome collected two hits and Tori Hampton added one.

Hannah Akers was the winning pitcher while Lily Napier suffered the loss.

BUCKLEYS CREEK – Lawrence County erupted for six runs in the top of the first inning and the Lady Dawgs went on to beat Pike Central, 8-5, in a game played at the Hawks Nest March 19.

Kensley Feltner had one hit, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs as Lawrence County moved to 1-1. Ashley Hayes added two hits, scored two runs and batted in one. Winning pitcher Alli Triplett collected two hits and knocked in one run.

Chloe Neece had two hits, including a double, scored and collected an RBI for the Lady Hawks, now 1-1. Skylar Stumbo had two singles and scored two runs and Sydnee Lowe had two hits and scored. Brittney Ray had one hit and drove in two. Kayleigh Thomas singled and scored. Emily Baker and Bailey Birchfield each had an RBI.

Kayleigh Thomas was the losing pitcher.
