HS SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Lady Warriors storm back, beat Cats

LICK CREEK – East Ridge erased a four-run deficit and went on to beat Betsy Layne, 14-4, in a game played on the Reservation May 13.

The Lady Bobcats, now 3-18, held a 4-0 lead until East Ridge (13-17) exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and then tacked on six in the home fifth.

Bethany Tackett had two doubles and drove in five runs while scoring once. Kelsi Slone followed with three hits, including double, scored twice and knocked in two runs. Kyra Looney added three singles, scored two runs and batted in three while Kierstin Coleman had two singles and scored three runs.

Caitlyn Coleman was the winning pitcher.

Lauren Hall and Sydney Newsome each had a pair of hit for the Lady Bobcats. Nicole Castle was tagged with the loss.

ROBINSON CREEK – Shelby Valley scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning,  turning back Pike Central, 3-2, in a game played May 13.

Kate Thompson had two hits and drove in one run as the Bat Kats improved to 12-10. Maggie Hall added three hits and winning pitcher Lily Napier had two.

Summer Marcum belted a two-run homer for the Lady Hawks, now 13-18. Maddie Vaughn singled and scored.

Kayleigh Thomas was the losing pitcher.
