HS SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Central’s Vanhoose no-hits Pikeville

PIKEVILLE – Johnson Central pitcher Chloe Vanhoose was on top of her game as she tossed a no-hitter against Pikeville as the Lady Eagles earned a 6-0 victory in a game played at Myers Field May 7.

Vanhoose struck out 14 batters and allowed only three walks as Johnson Central improved to 14-14. Alaina Castle and Alyssa Hedrick each had one hit and drove in a pair of runs while Kaitlyn Fitch finished with one hit and added an RBI.

Emily Ford took the loss as the Lady Panthers fell to 19-11.

LOUISA – Lawrence County built an early lead on Pike Central and went on to score an 8-1 victory in a game played May 7.

Kensley Feltner had a pair of doubles, scored two runs and knocked in three as the Lady Bulldogs improved to 19-7. Ashley Hayes and Lillian Kinzer both singled and drove in one run apiece.

Alli Triplett was the winning pitcher.

Bailey Birchfield singled and scored for the Lady Hawks, now 12-15. Sydney Lowe doubled and singled. Kayleigh Thomas was tagged with the loss.

GOODY – Belfry’s seniors went out in style as the Lady Pirates pounded out 12 hits and cruised to a 13-4 victory over East Ridge in a game played at Massey Energy Field May 7.

Linzee Phillips had three hits, including a triple, scored four runs and drove in a pair of runs as Belfry moved to 23-3. Ariel Mounts tripled, singled twice, scored and added an RBI.

Emily Deaton collected three singles and scored three times while winning pitcher Kailee Rash doubled and knocked in one run. Paula Dotson doubled and added an RBI while Kylea Stanley batted in two runs.

Kyra Looney had two hits and scored two runs and Kelsi Slone doubled, scored and knocked in one run as the Lady Warriors fell to 12-15. Bethany Tackett singled home one run.
