HS SOFTBALL: Pike Central rolls past Phelps

BUCKLEYS CREEK – Pike County Central erupted for 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to mercy Phelps, 15-2, in a game played at the Hawks Nest April 15.

Summer Marcum doubled, scored two runs and drove in two as the Lady Hawks improved to 8-10. Bailey Birchfield singled and drove in three runs while scoring once.

Chloe Neece singled, scored two runs and batted in three to help back winning pitcher Maddie Vaughn.

Dailey Prater had a base hit and knocked in one of the Lady Hornets (5-5) two runs. Mikayla Layne and Hailey Skeens both reached base and scored.

LICK CREEK – East Ridge overcame to deficit to turn back Jenkins, 17-14, in a wild game played on the Reservation April 15.

Winning pitcher Bethany Tackett had four singles and drove in two runs as the Lady Warriors improved to 9-9. Jessi Ramey added two hits and knocked in one run while scoring four times.

Macy Bell doubled, singled, scored twice and added an RBI while Kelsi Slone doubled, scored and knocked in three runs.

Jerrica Thacker had a pair of hits for the Lady Cavaliers, now 3-10, and knocked in two runs while losing pitcher Riley Fleming drove in two runs.

GOODY –  Belfry rallied with four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game with Shelby Valley and then pushed across the game-winning run one frame later for a come-from-behind 6-5 victory in a game played at Massey Energy Field April 15.

Winning pitcher Kailee Rash had a pair of doubles and drove home three runs as the Lady Pirates improved to 14-1. Emily Deaton added two singles and scored a pair of runs.

Maggie Hall doubled and singled and knocked in one run as the Bat Kats fell to 4-7. Beth Werner and Olivia Bowling each singled and drove in one run. Bowling also scored once.

Tori Hampton had two hits and scored. Lily Napier suffered the tough-luck loss.

MADISON – Logan scored four times in the top of the seventh inning to pull away and beat Scott, 12-7, in a game played April 15.

The Wildcats, now 7-14, pounded out 14 hits, including three off the bat of Emma Vinson. She also drove in a pair of runs. Katie Fleming and Raegan Quick each added two hits.

Ashlyn Conley knocked home three runs to help winning pitcher Chloe Bryant in relief. Bryant drove in two runs as well.
