HS SOFTBALL: Lady Hawks top Lady Tigers

PAINTSVILLE – Pike Central built a three-run lead early and went on to hand Paintsville its first loss this season, 5-3, in a game played March 28.

Chloe Neece had two hits, including a double, scored and drove in two runs as the Lady Hawks improved to 4-4.

Bailey Birchfield added a pair of singles, scored and batted in one run while Sydnee  Lowe doubled, singled and score.

Winning pitcher Maddie Vaughn doubled and drove in one run.

Elizabeth Williams blasted a solo home run for the Lady Tigers, now 6-1. Losing pitcher Anna Keeton had two hits and knocked in one run.

ROBINSON CREEK – Belfry scored six times in the top of the 10th inning and winning pitcher Kailee Rash had enough left in the tank to beat Shelby Valley, 8-4, in a game played March 28.

Natalie Fite, Brianna Tello and Rash each drove in one run while Linzee Phillips, Paula Dotson and Emily Deaton all walked twice.

Maggie Hall had two hits for Valley, now 2-3. She batted in one run. Tori Hampton and Katelyn Thompson both singled, scored and knocked in one run each

The Lady Pirates are now 4-1.

Macy Conley had two hits and drove in four runs while Chloe Vanhoose added two hit and batted in one as the Lady Eagles moved to 5-1.

Chloe Lafferty knocked home two runs and Alaina Castle collected two hits in the win.

Gracie Presley suffered the loss as the Lady Cardinals dropped to 3-5.

LICK CREEK – East Ridge made quick work of Leslie County as the Lady Warriors steamrolled to a 16-1 victory in a game played on the Reservation March  28.

The Warriors, now 4-3, had a big game from Courtney Standifur and Lakin Puckett. Standifur had three hits, scored and knocked in three runs while Puckett had two hits, scored two runs and batted in three.

Haley Parks tripled, scored twice and drove in two runs while Kyra Looney added two singles, scored two runs and knocked in two.

Bethany Tackett had three hits, including a double, scored and had an RBI. Kelsi  Slone and Emma Potter each singled, scored a pair of runs and batted in one run.

Caitlyn Coleman was the winning pitcher.

LOUISA –Lawrence County’s offense was in high gear  in a doubleheader sweep of Prestonsburg, winning 15-3 and 12-1 in games played March 28.

In the nightcap, Halli Caudill had three hits and knocked in three runs and Elizabeth Fitzpatrick drove in three runs as the Lady Dawgs moved to 6-2.

Haylee Neece batted in all three Lady Blackcat (0-5) runs in the first inning.

Amber Triplett was the winning pitcher while Haleigh Jefferson took the loss.

In the opener, winning pitcher McKenzie Methex had one hit and drove home three runs while Ashley Hayes batted in three runs and Caudill collected a pair.

Katelyn Bingham suffered the loss.
