Prestonsburg’s boys and girls’ soccer teams journeyed to Frankfort this past weekend to take part in the All “A” Classic state tournament.
The Blackcats opened play with a 2-1 victory over Owensboro Catholic, winning in a shootout and penalty kicks.
Goalkeeper Jacob Martin was solid in allowing just one goal as Prestonsburg improved to 11-2-1. Grant Justice scored the lone goal in regulation while Isaiah Collins had an assist.
Prestonsburg fell to Lexington Christian, 2-1, in the second round of play. Justice scored the goal while Matt Burchett added an assist.
Meanwhile, the Lady Blackcats defeated University Height, 3-1.
Chloe Collins, Elizabeth Burchett and Makayla Ousley each had one goal apiece. Ousley added an assist.
Goalkeeper Chelsea Samons allowed just a single goal as the Lady Blackcats moved to 13-1-0.
Prestonsburg was eliminated by St. Henry, 4-2.
Anna Burchett and Ousley had one goal each and Annabelle Trusty added an assist as they fell to 13-2-0.

Martin County took control early on and cruised to a 10-0 victory over Man in a match played at The Rock.
Bobby Hale scored three goals and assisted on two others as the Cardinals moved to 6-4-0. Jestin Baker added two goals and one assist.
Colby Barker, Reece Merrill, Nathan Frey, Josh Gauze and Ethan Frey had one goal each.
Paintsville boys fell to Wolfe County, 5-3.
Letcher Central girls defeated Onedia Baptist, 6-1.
