Lawrence County boys’ and girls’ soccer captured the 58th District soccer tournament championship with victories over Belfry at Massey Energy Field on Thursday night.
Tyler Maynard scored an unassisted goal in the 50th minute to give the Bulldogs a 3-2 win. It was his third goal of the match.
Dalton Stacy and Cayden Long had goals for the Pirates. Belfry goalkeeper Isaiah Hackney had nine saves.
The Bulldogs, now 9-5-2, and the Pirates, 8-7-1, both advance to the regional tournament next week.
Lawrence County’s Sarah Lycans scored three goals and Autumn Maynard added a fourth as the Lady Bulldogs defeated Belfry, 4-1.
Kylie Gollihue had the lone goal for the Lady Pirates, now 11-8-1. Goalkeeper Kenzie Maynard finished with nine saves.
Bulldog goalkeeper Allyson Moore had 10 saves as LC improved to 13-5-0.
Both teams move on to the regional tournament next week.
