West Carter’s defense shut down Shelby Valley’s highly-explosive offense as the Wildcats dropped a 33-7 district road loss on Friday night.
Shelby Valley’s only points came early in the second period on a 68-yard run by quarterback Dalton Meade. Garret James’ PAT kick tied the score at seven.
Meade finished with 152 yards rushing. Running back Jayden Newsome had 101 yards on 12 carries.
The Comets, now 3-2, pulled away in the second half as running back Leetavious Cline scored on runs of 1, 78 and 55 yards while Jackson Bond returned an interception for 63 yard score.
The Wildcats, now 4-2, will host Prestonsburg (2-4) at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 3.
