HS FOOTBALL: Tug Valley comeback falls short

Tug Valley rallied in the second half by scoring 28 straight points against Tolsia, but still fell short, 44-36, in a game played at Wilt Salmons Field on Friday night.

The Panthers, now 3-2, had eight turnovers against the Rebels (4-1).

Quarterback Ethan Varney passed for 287 yards and five touchdowns, including four straight in the second half to pull the Panthers even at 36. Caleb May had 15 catches for 189 yards and three touchdowns. Varney also rushed for 80 yards.

Tug Valley will return to Bob Brewer Field to host Pike County Central (4-1) on Oct. 4. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
