HS FOOTBALL: Tigers outscore East Jessamine

Just one week after being held to a single touchdown, Paintsville’s offense erupted and it was needed as the Tigers outscored East Jessamine, 41-35, in a game played at Memorial Field on Friday night.

Tiger quarterback Jake Hyden passed for 306 yards and three touchdowns, including a pair to John Walker Phelps, who had seven catches for 125 yards. Harris Phelps hauled in seven passes for 63 yards and one score.

Zach Thompson, Hyden and John Phelps all added a rushing touchdown as the Tigers improved to 3-1 heading into their bye week.

Paintsville finished with 524 yards in total offense.

Hyden was solid on defense as well with 12 tackles, including nine solo. Karsten Poe had an interception. Hunter Ousley added 10 tackles, eight solos.

Paintsville will journey to Hazard (2-1) on Sept. 27.
