HS FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Tug tops Tide; Logan, C’ville fall

Tug Valley overcame an early deficit and the Panthers went on to hammer Sherman, 32-12, in a game played at Bob Brewer Field on Friday night.

Quarterback Ethan Varney passed for 143 yards and two touchdowns as Tug Valley evened its record at 1-1. He also rushed 17 times for 83 yards and one score.

Running back Zack Savage added 76 yards rushing and one touchdown. He also rushed for a two-point conversion.

Caleb May hauled in five passes for 95 yards and a touchdown.

The Panthers will travel to Hannan (0-2) on Sept. 13. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.

Logan continued its offensive struggle as Sissonville came into newly-named Willis-Nisbet Stadium and defeated the Wildcats, 28-6, on Friday night.

The Wildcats, now 0-2, scored its only points midway through the third period as running back Aiden Slack raced 21 yards for a touchdown.

Sissonville running back Dylan Griffith scored three touchdowns for the Indians, who beat a Logan County team for the second straight week. They knocked off Chapmanville in the season opener.

Logan will host Mingo Central (1-1) on Sept. 13. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Chapmanville had no answer defensively as Poca running back Ethan Payne rushed for 304 yards and five rushing touchdowns to lead the Dots to a 48-7 victory over the Tigers at O.O. White Stadium on Friday night. He also returned a punt for another

The Tigers, now 0-2, scored their only points on a 73-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Chase Berry to Waylon Hensley early in the opening period.
