HS FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Mims passes, runs Cats past Fairview

Betsy Layne quarterback Chase Mims passed for 152 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 50 yards and one score as the Bobcats defeated Fairview, 34-14, on the home turf Friday night.

The Bobcats thus finish the regular season 4-6 as a result of this coming week’s forfeit win over Jenkins.

Running back Austin Tackett added 68 yards rushing and one touchdown on just two carries while Chase Hamilton added a rushing score. Nicholas Howell and Chase Hamilton each hauled in a touchdown pass.

Defensively, Curtis Robinette was in on 15 tackles, including nine solo, and Marcum Hall finished with 12. Jaxon Burchett and Paul Hall each had an interception and Skylar Adkins recovered a fumble.

East Ridge………0

West Carter rolled to its seventh straight win with a 43-0 victory over East Ridge in a game played at the Reservation on Friday night.

The loss dropped the Warriors to 0-9.

Quarterback Orry Perry passed for two touchdowns and backup Landon Nichols passed for another. Running back Leetavious Cline added two rushing scores.

East Ridge will close out its season at Knott County Central (2-7) on Nov. 1. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Clay County’s defense limited  Magoffin County to just 140 total yards as the Tigers knocked off the Hornets, 22-8, on Friday night.

Mason Lovely finished with seven rushes for 39 yards and one touchdown as the Hornets dropped to 2-7 heading into this coming weekend’s finale against Morgan County at home.

Quarterback Lucas Litteral passed for 62 yards. Love had four receptions for 37 yards. He also finished with 24 tackles on defense.
