HS FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Meade runs wild in Valley win; JC rolls

Shelby Valley quarterback Dalton Meade rushed 11 times for 252 yards and five touchdowns to power the Wildcats to a 50-12 victory over Phelps in a game played at Teco Field on Friday night.

The Wildcats, now 4-1, also got rushing touchdowns from Ethan Bentley and Jordan Little. Bentley had 85 yards on only two carries as Valley ran for 439 yards as a team.

Mikey Mullins hauled in Meade’s only completion in five attempts for 40 yards.

Meade totaled 12 tackles, including eight solo, while Brayden Keathley followed with 11 and Isaac Hinkle had 10.

Valley will play at West Carter (2-2) and Phelps journeys to Betsy Layne (2-3) on Sept. 27. Kickoff for both games is set for 7:30 p.m.

Johnson Central quarterback Ryley Preece passed for one touchdown, ran for a second and picked off a pass and scored a third to lead the Golden Eagles to a 34-8 victory over Bishop Sycamore (Ohio) at Eagle Field on Friday night.

Reece Goss and Bryce Tackett added rushing touchdowns as the Golden Eagles moved to 4-0. Receiver Seth Dalton had two catches for 63 yards and a score. Running back Devin Johnson led the ground game with 75 yards on 11 carries.

The Golden Eagles will host Simon Kenton (3-2) on Sept. 27. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
