HS FOOTBALL: Miners run through Huskies

Mingo Central overcame an early first-quarter deficit to pull away and beat Herbert Hoover, 47-6, in a steady drizzle at Buck Harless Stadium on Friday night.

Quarterback Daylin Goad ran for four touchdowns and passed for another, a first-quarter strike to receiver Drew Hatfield covering 39 yards to put the Miners ahead for good following his PAT kick.

Goad added TD runs of 3, 2, 42 and 4 yards as Mingo Central improved to 6-2 and kept their post-season playoff dreams alive with two games remaining. Goads rushed for 142 yards and passed for 167.

Hatfield, who had 12 catches for 144 yards. He also returned a punt 70 yards for a touchdown. Running back Tanner Cisco added a four-yard touchdown run. Cisco finished with 118 yards rushing.

Mingo Central will play at Chapmanville (5-3) on Nov. 1. Kickoff from Tiger Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m.
