HS FOOTBALL: Miners knock Indians from ranks of unbeaten

Mingo Central used a solid second-half performance to pull away and beat previously unbeaten Sissonville, 33-14, in a matchup played at Buck Harless Stadium on Friday night.

Miner quarterback Daylin Goad passed for 312 yards and three touchdowns as Mingo Central moved to 3-1. Goad also rushed 20 times for 108 yards and two scores.

It was the third straight win following the season-opening loss at Pikeville.

Receiver Drew Hatdfield caught eight passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns. His scores were catches of 44, 50 and 20 yards.

Mingo Central will host Poca (4-0) on Sept. 27. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
